Dr Elizabeth Nguyen
MBBS, FRACGP
Liz is one half of the co-founding team at Brightside Medical. She thoroughly enjoys her work as a General Practioner, in particular the opportunity to connect with people and help with health-related issues. She is friendly, compassionate and comprehensive in her approach. Her consultation style is children-friendly.
Liz completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2012. She enjoyed working through a range of clinical experience in the hospital setting, in particular Emergency Medicine, Paediatric Medicine and General Medicine, before she pursued her career in General Practice.
When she is not at work, Liz enjoys going for walks around Williamstown and spending time with family.
Dr Brian Huang
MBBS, FRACGP
Brian is also the co-founder of Brightside Medical. He is an experienced and highly trained GP with an empathetic and thoughtful manner that people appreciate. He is passionate about providing personalised care to patients.
Brian completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery in 2011. He completed residences in a broad range of disciplines including Paediatric Medicine, Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine. He has completed a Certificate in Primary Care Skin Cancer Medicine and provides services in skin checks and excisions. He also has interests in Preventative Health Care and Travel Medicine.
Brian and Liz are a husband and wife team living and working locally in Williamstown with their baby son.
Dr Kang Meng Choi
MBBS, FRACGP
Kang graduated from the University of Melbourne completing his Medical degree in 2009. Following this, he worked in a range of different internal medicine units within the Western Health network, including spending time at Williamstown Hospital.
He went on to obtain his General Practice qualification, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He enjoys all aspects of general practice and has a diverse set of interests including Acupuncture, Employment Medicals, Mental Health, Chronic Disease Management, Skin Checks, Family Planning and Sexual Health.
He looks forward to providing holistic care to all patients.
In his spare time, Dr Kang enjoys going to the gym and cycling.
Dr Jonathan (Hoe Keat) Tan
MBch, FRACGP
Dr Jonathan (Hoe Keat) Tan graduated from Auckland University, New Zealand in 2010 before moving to Adelaide, South Australia for his internship at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He did his resident years at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for 2 years before embarking into General Practice Training. He has worked in regional areas such as Millicent and Murray Bridge as part of his training in South Australia.
He became a Fellow of Royal Australian College of General Practitioner in 2016 and has worked as a GP in Adelaide Hills for the past 6 years. Jonathan enjoys all aspects of general practice especially men’s health, chronic diseases and minor skin procedures.
In his free time, he loves to take his dog for walks, going for musicals and planning his next travel destination.

Registered Nurse
Van has been the nurse at Brightside Medical since we opened in April 2019. She has extensive experience having worked in the Emergency Department at Western Health for 8 years. She has also completed post graduate studies in nursing. We are glad that she has chosen to progress her career into GP Nursing.
What we appreciate about Van is her warm, friendly manner and her ability to connect with people. She has 2 gorgeous young boys. In her spare time she enjoys catching up with friends over brunch, going to the movies and spending time with her family.

Rachel

After growing up and going to school in Willi, Rachel moved to Ballarat for 3 years where she graduated from her nursing degree as a Registered Nurse.
Rachel has a strong interest in community and public health which is what led her to work as a GP Nurse here at Brightside.
In her spare time Rachel loves going for walks with her dog and spending time with her partner and family.

Jenny brings to Brightside a good sense of humour and a desire to make people laugh. She makes everyone feel right at home.
Meri

Meri is a Hobsons Bay resident and has lived in locally for 28 years.
Meri’s warm, bubbly personality and friendly nature makes it easy for her to connect with the community.
Meri loves spending time with her husband and three adult children, enjoys her daily walks and family gatherings.
In her spare time she loves to get out on the road/dirt bike for some fun and laughter.

She brings a welcoming and positive presence to the clinic and is an avid Geelong Cats supporter. Make sure to ask her who her puppy dog is named after!

Jodie Roper
Clinical psychologist

Prior to obtaining her Master’s in Clinical Psychology, Jodie worked for several years in the education and supported employment fields. Following many years of living, studying and working overseas Jodie returned to Melbourne in 2013 in order to further her career as a clinician.
Her clinical experience includes working in both private clinic and hospital settings where she has worked with clients presenting with a range of mental health issues including mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, stress and interpersonal difficulties.
In order to assist others’ achieve their greatest potential Jodie embodies the principles of positive psychology and uses techniques from Cognitive Behavioural, Schema, Solution Focused and Acceptance and Commitment therapies. Jodie works with all clients in a collaborative manner ensuring a positive working relationship in which change, growth and personal development are encouraged and supported.
